Michael Benfield, PA-C
Michael Benfield is a board-certified physician assistant practicing orthopedic surgery and sports medicine with Dr. Muxlow. Michael assists Dr. Muxlow with both clinical as well as surgical responsibilities. He has an extensive background in sports medicine as an athletic trainer for 8 years at the high school level practicing in the Atlanta Metropolitan as well as Northeast Georgia area.
Michael earned his undergraduate degree in kinesiology with a focus in athletic training from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville Georgia. From there he began practicing as an athletic trainer in the high school setting for approximately 8 years before returning to school to earn his physician assistant degree. Michael attended Brenau University’s physician assistant program in Gainesville Georgia.
Michael is a Georgia native growing up in Duluth Georgia. He attended Northview High School where he was heavily involved in athletics playing football, lacrosse, and track and field. His love for sports transitioned into a love for sports medicine once he began his undergraduate career in Milledgeville.
In Michael’s free time he enjoys being outdoors with his wife and daughters. He enjoys spending time on the lake as well as with family and friends enjoying what Gainesville has to offer.
