Chad J. Muxlow, D.O. Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr. Chad J. Muxlow is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with advanced fellowship training in both Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic Surgery. He specializes in the non-operative and operative treatment of the Shoulder, Knee and Elbow, as well as sports related injuries. Dr. Muxlow treats all conditions of the shoulder with an emphasis on rotator cuff tears, labral tears, shoulder instability, impingement, a.c. joint separation, biceps tendon pathology, and arthritis. Dr. Muxlow is an accomplished shoulder surgeon with advanced training in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery for rotator cuff repair, labral repair, shoulder instability stabilization, biceps repair, superior capsular reconstruction, and a.c. joint reconstruction. He also performs minimally invasive, patient specific total shoulder and reverse total shoulder replacement procedures. In addition, Dr. Muxlow provides extensive treatment of the knee including acute and complex ligament injuries, meniscal tears, cartilage damage, and instability. He has comprehensive training in arthroscopic meniscus repair, ACL reconstruction, PCL reconstruction, multi-ligament reconstruction, cartilage restoration, and patella instability procedures of the knee for which he offers the most technologically advanced techniques.
Dr. Muxlow earned his Medical Degree from Michigan State University and completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Michigan State University. He went on to complete fellowship training in Orthopedic Surgery Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic Surgery at the world renowned Orthopedic Research of Virginia in Richmond, VA. While in his residency and fellowship, he participated in the care and treatment of athletes from the area high schools to the collegiate level, including Michigan State University Spartans and the University of Richmond Spiders.
Dr. Muxlow grew up on his family's farm in Michigan. He attended North Branch Wesleyan Academy for high school and excelled in 4 varsity sports earning 12 varsity letters. In addition to athletics, he enjoyed music as an accomplished trumpet player and vocalist and graduated Valedictorian of his class. He suffered a significant knee injury shifting his focus from collegiate athletics to a focus on sports medicine to be able to help athletes return to the sports they love. While attending Messiah College, he served as the vice-president of the Medaware committee and was named a Boyer Scholar.
Dr. Muxlow enjoys spending his free time working with his wife and 3 children on their family beef cattle farm. Dr. Muxlow is also an instrument-rated private pilot and stays active hiking with the family.
